Caterina Monzani

I graduated in cinema studies from the department of arts, music and cinema at the University of Bologna, Italy, where I became interested in visual storytelling. I have a background in photography and the combination of my interest in photography and cinema brought me to documentary.

Before coming to the NFTS, I worked as director and production assistant on a range of documentaries produced by a documentary production company based in Turin, while making my own projects. After two years, I realized that I needed to leave Italy if I wanted to progress as a director and this brought me to the NFTS, where I had the opportunity to learn different kinds of documentary making and the time to focus my attention on the stories I am most interested in. Now that I have graduated, I want to continue with what I have been doing in the last two years, trying to find funds to develop my projects, staying in London and focusing on stories in the UK and abroad.
