My passion for sound grew out of my love of music, which inspired the creation of my record label District Six and travels through Southern Africa researching and recording the local musicians. This is when my interest in location and post sound began. After completing a Sonic Arts course I went freelance as a sound recordist and designer, which led to collaborations with Gillian Wearing, Ori Gersht and Darria Martin, as well as further adventures around Africa and Europe working in documentary and Film/Video Art. The work has since been exhibited at Tate Modern/Britain, the V&A and the Photographers’ Gallery.
Coming to the NFTS has allowed me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of sonic narrative within a production and as an entity. I now aim to carry on my work as a sound artist and filmmaker.
Films at the NFTS include...
