Gemma Burditt
UIP Scholar 2004-2005
Gemma Burditt was brought up in Somerset and began her artistic education at Exeter College, in Devon. While there, she developed a keen interest in theatre and performance, leading her to study Theatre design and puppetry at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
After three years of study, Gemma began to look at how other mediums - such as
animation - could be incorporated into a stage performance. Her time as a puppeteer in small theatre companies allowed her to examine this further until the appeal of animation was so strong that she decided to take the animation direction course at the NFTS.
Here Gemma has experimented with a variety of techniques including the projection of live action and animating in an outside environment. Theatre and performance continue to strongly influence her work.
Films at the NFTS include...
