Jon Hayes

AON/Albert G Ruben Scholar 2003-2004

Jon Hayes started at the bottom of the Industry, working on television series and feature films such as Whatever Happened to Harold Smith? He left to attend the University of Sheffield, where he co-founded and ran a digital production company, where he specialised in producing experimental short films and corporate commissions. He then spent a year working in the Los Angeles film industry before re-locating to Washington DC, to work at Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Hedrick Smith’s production company.

Jon came to the NFTS to train as a producer and develop his skills as a script editor. While here, he has developed a deep-seated love for animation and special effects, producing the highly ambitious fiction film X-Mass, and the dark fairytale Lightman. He has also discovered a flair for working with writers and is currently developing three features, one of which is an adaptation of a hugely popular comic novel.

Jon plans to make a career in advertising, specifically in commercials production, and hopes to work in both live-action and animation while developing his feature scripts.
